Pune Metro Services To Remain Operational From 6 AM On Anant Chaturdashi
Pune Metro has announced special arrangements for commuters during the upcoming Anant Chaturdashi festival. To facilitate smooth travel on the day of Ganesh idol immersions, metro services will run continuously from 6:00 AM on Saturday, September 6, 2025, until 11:00 PM on Sunday, September 7, 2025.
Authorities have appealed to citizens to make maximum use of metro services while adhering to safety rules and travel guidelines.
This extended operation aims to ease traffic congestion in the city, particularly during visarjan processions, when thousands of devotees gather across major routes. The initiative reflects Pune Metro’s role in providing a reliable and safe public transport alternative for large-scale events.
In another significant development, the state cabinet has given its nod for the construction of two additional underground stations — Balajinagar and Bibwewadi on the 5.1 km Swargate–Katraj corridor. These stations are expected to improve accessibility and strengthen connectivity in densely populated areas of the city. Once completed, the route will provide faster, eco-friendly transport for daily commuters while reducing dependency on road travel.
Meanwhile, Pune Metro continues to witness a steady increase in ridership. According to official data, 69 lakh passengers used the metro between August 1 and 31, 2025. This surge in commuters highlights the growing acceptance of metro services as a preferred mode of travel.
Authorities expressed gratitude to citizens for their cooperation and urged them to celebrate the festival responsibly while choosing public transport for convenience and safety.
