Mumbai, September 7, 2025 — A shocking incident from Lalbaug has gone viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage among devotees. A video circulating online shows a volunteer standing on stage and allegedly kicking a woman devotee who was waiting in line for Ganesh darshan during Anant Chaturdashi celebrations.

On September 6, as Ganesh Visarjan rituals were underway across Mumbai and Maharashtra, massive crowds gathered in Lalbaug, a traditional hub for Ganpati devotees. Managing such heavy footfall has always been challenging, but this time, an act of misconduct by a volunteer has left devotees angered.

The viral video, shared by Instagram page @unseen__mumbai, captures the moment when a male volunteer shouted at devotees before kicking a brother-sister duo standing in line. The disturbing visuals were recorded by someone in the crowd and quickly spread across social media platforms. The clip has already amassed over 1.7 million views with strong reactions pouring in.

While it is not yet clear which mandal the volunteer belonged to, netizens have condemned the arrogance and behavior of volunteers, calling it “unacceptable and shameful.”

Social Media Reactions
The video has triggered heated debates online. One user commented, “This is senseless. People should stop going to Lalbaug and instead worship Ganpati at home. The deity protects you throughout the year, not these so-called volunteers.” Another wrote, “What arrogance! Such volunteers should be punished immediately.” A third user added, “Enough of this high-handedness, people too need to wake up.”

The incident has once again raised concerns over crowd management and the treatment of devotees at popular Ganesh mandals. Authorities are yet to respond to the viral video.
