Altercation outside Elephant & Co. Restaurant escalates into violence; two booked by Yerawada Police

Pune witnessed chaos on Sunday night after a man attacked a bouncer outside Elephant & Co. Restaurant and Bar in Yerawada, following a dispute over entry.

The incident occurred around 9:30–10:30 pm when a group of youngsters was refused entry by the restaurant staff. What began as a verbal argument soon spiraled into a physical altercation outside the establishment. Eyewitnesses captured videos of the brawl, which showed aggressive behaviour by the group. Once uploaded online, the footage quickly went viral on social media

Bouncer Mayur Madhukar Phadtare (27), a resident of Pune, later filed a complaint with the Yerawada Police Station. Based on his statement, police registered a case against Akhil Ashok Kumar (27), of Vadgaonsheri, and his friend Kyle Edward Cummins (24), of Pirangut, Mulshi Taluka.

According to Pune City Police, the two accused have been charged under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 3(5) (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).

Police intervened promptly at the scene to bring the situation under control. No serious injuries have been reported, though investigations are ongoing.
