Pune, September 10, 2025: The Maharashtra government has begun the process of setting up a new IT park in Purandar taluka, located near the proposed Pune International Airport and logistics hub. The move aims to decongest Hinjewadi IT Park and boost infrastructure development in the region.

Industry Minister Uday Samant has directed officials to initiate land acquisition for the project. Following his instructions, the industry department has written to the revenue department, seeking the transfer of government-owned land in Dive, Chambali, and Kodit villages.

Although the industry department initially rejected some land parcels, officials have now cleared the identified sites. With Hinjewadi facing infrastructure bottlenecks and nearing saturation, the state hopes that the new IT park will not only relieve pressure but also prevent companies from relocating outside Maharashtra.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar recently visited Hinjawadi and directed the administration to expedite road widening and upgrade infrastructure, cautioning that delays were prompting companies to consider moving out.

While officials from the industry department declined to comment on record, they confirmed that meetings have already been held and a formal request has been submitted to the revenue department. Since the land is government-owned, the acquisition process is expected to proceed smoothly.
