Pimpri, September 10, 2025: A bridge illuminated with vibrant, colorful lighting… shades of light transforming into a mesmerizing display… such is the unique experience citizens are enjoying while traveling across the Butterfly Bridge, connecting Thergaon and Chinchwad. Built over the Pavana River, this bridge now sparkles with dazzling illumination, turning into a visual spectacle at night that continues to captivate residents and draw crowds.
The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has been focusing not only on creating modern infrastructure but also on constructing aesthetically appealing landmarks in the city. The Butterfly Bridge at Thergaon, built by PCMC over the Pavana River, is one such project that has quickly become a new attraction for the city. Its distinctive architectural design has already added charm to Pimpri Chinchwad’s skyline, and with the recent installation of decorative lighting by the civic body’s electrical department, the bridge’s beauty has reached new heights.
For this illumination, high-quality LED linear wash lights (IP65) have been installed. These lights are powered with 512 DMX control and RGB technology, allowing dynamic lighting that creates ever-changing colorful patterns across the bridge. For motorists passing at night as well as residents in nearby areas, this visual treat has become a delightful experience. Many are capturing photos and videos of the display, making the bridge not just a traffic connector but also a popular tourist spot for citizens and visitors alike.
Use of Modern Technology for Scenic Lighting
Like the Butterfly Bridge at Thergaon, several other bridges in Pimpri Chinchwad have also been enhanced with scenic decorative lighting using modern technology. These include the Mother Teresa Flyover at Chinchwad and the J.R.D. Tata Flyover at Nashik Phata. Additionally, work on decorative lighting at the Bhakti-Shakti Flyover is currently underway. By using LED lights, this illumination is achieved with minimal power consumption.

“Facade-style lighting has been implemented on the Butterfly Bridge. The LED lights used here consume very little power. The total load of the bridge’s illumination is only 22 kilowatts. Similar decorative lighting is also planned for other bridges across Pimpri Chinchwad city.”
