Mumbai, September 11, 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for 23 districts across Maharashtra warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours. South Central Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha are expected to be the worst affected, while Konkan and North Maharashtra will see cloudy skies with light showers at isolated locations.

According to the IMD, Mumbai and suburban areas are likely to experience generally cloudy weather with light rain. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 30°C, while the minimum may dip to 22°C. However, no rain warning has been issued for Mumbai and Konkan districts.

In Western Maharashtra, districts including Pune, Satara, Sangli, and Solapur have been placed under a yellow alert. Solapur may witness heavy rainfall at isolated places.

In North Maharashtra, Ahilyanagar has been issued a yellow alert for heavy rain, while Dhule, Nashik, Nandurbar, and Jalgaon may see light to moderate showers at scattered locations.

Marathwada is likely to witness intense rainfall, particularly in Parbhani, Hingoli, and Nanded. Dharashiv and Latur may experience heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning, while Jalna and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar are expected to see light to moderate showers.

The Vidarbha region is forecast to be the most affected, with all 11 districts placed under a yellow alert. Washim, Yavatmal, Wardha, Chandrapur, Gondia, and Gadchiroli are likely to experience heavy rainfall, while the remaining districts may face thunderstorms with heavy rain.

Overall, 23 districts across Maharashtra — including 11 in Vidarbha, 6 in Marathwada, 4 in Western Maharashtra, and 1 in North Maharashtra — have been put on yellow alert for September 12.
