Pune: 540 Citizens Participate In Draft Ward Structure Hearing
Pune, September 12, 2025: The public hearing on Pune’s draft ward structure commenced on Thursday at Balgandharva Auditorium, drawing the participation of 540 citizens. The session, presided over by IAS officer V. Radha, addressed objections related to 29 wards and is scheduled to continue on Friday for the remaining wards.
In total, 2,920 objections were filed against the proposed ward formations, but only a fraction of citizens appeared to present their views in person.
Leaders from major political parties also took part in the proceedings. Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) city unit president Prashant Jagtap and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay More raised objections, alleging that the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) overlooked the Election Commission of India’s guidelines and ignored natural boundaries while carrying out the delimitation process.
Speaking to the media, IAS officer Radha refrained from making detailed comments, stating, “The hearing will conclude on Friday. Later, we will provide a review of the entire process.”
With Friday marking the final day of hearings, representatives and workers from all prominent political parties are expected to attend in large numbers, signalling an intense discussion on the proposed ward structure.
