Maharashtra Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a major shift in weather conditions across Maharashtra on Monday, September 15, 2025.

Heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds is expected in several parts of the state, prompting alerts in 35 districts including Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Nagpur, and Aurangabad.

Alerts Across Regions

  • Konkan: Districts like Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, and Sindhudurg are likely to witness rain with lightning and strong winds. A Yellow Alert has been issued here. Meanwhile, Raigad and Ratnagiri are under an Orange Alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall.
  • Western Maharashtra: Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, and Solapur districts are expected to receive rain with thunderstorms. Pune and Satara ghats are on Orange Alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall, while Kolhapur ghat areas are on Yellow Alert.
  • Marathwada: All districts including Aurangabad (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar), Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, and Dharashiv are under Yellow Alert with warnings of thunderstorms and strong winds.
  • North Maharashtra: Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Nashik, Nashik ghat, and Ahmednagar (Ahilyanagar) are likely to receive rain with lightning. These areas are on Yellow Alert.
  • Vidarbha: Akola, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Washim, and Yavatmal districts may experience thunderstorms with rain under Yellow Alert. Amravati, Nagpur, and Wardha are at risk of heavy rainfall and have also been flagged.

Citizens Advised to Stay Alert

The IMD has urged citizens to remain cautious as rainfall will be accompanied by lightning strikes and gusty winds. Farmers have been advised to take protective measures for crops, while residents are urged to safeguard their health and avoid unnecessary travel in high-risk zones.
