Khadakwasla Dam Increases Water Discharge; IMD Issues Orange Warning for Pune, Mumbai and Other Districts
Pune, September 15, 2025 – The Khadakwasla Dam authorities have announced an increase in water discharge into the Mutha River on Monday morning. According to officials, the release has been raised from 4,697 cusecs to 7,677 cusecs at 8:00 am.
Sub-Divisional Engineer Shri Mohan Shankarrao Bhadane of the Mutha Canal Irrigation Sub-Division, Swargate, Pune, confirmed that the outflow may be altered further depending on rainfall intensity and water inflow into the reservoir. Citizens residing along the riverbanks have been advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Mumbai has issued an Orange Alert for multiple districts including Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Beed, Ahilyanagar, Pune and Latur.
The forecast warns of moderate to intense rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching 40–50 kmph over the next three hours.
