A devastating cloudburst in Uttarakhand has unleashed flash floods across Dehradun, submerging homes in Tapovan and leaving several areas waterlogged, including Sahastradhara and the IT Park. Overnight heavy rainfall has crippled normal life, with roads rendered impassable and residents stranded.

Flood Situation

  • Sahastradhara river overflowed late last night, sweeping debris into the main market and damaging hotels and shops.
  • In Rishikesh, the Chandrabhaga river is in spate, with floodwaters spilling onto the highway.
  • Three people stranded in the river were rescued by SDRF teams, though several vehicles remain stuck.
  • In Mandi, multiple vehicles were swept away.

Government Response

Emergency teams from the SDRF, police, and district administration have been deployed, with rescue and relief operations continuing on a war footing.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said in a tweet:
“Some shops have been damaged due to heavy rains in Sahastradhara, Dehradun, late last night. District administration, SDRF, and police are engaged in relief and rescue operations. I am personally monitoring the situation.”
