Mumbai/Pune News: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for 19 districts in Maharashtra on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, as heavy rainfall continues to lash several parts of the state. Citizens have been advised to remain cautious as monsoon intensity is expected to persist for the next 2–3 days.
Key Weather Highlights for September 17:
Mumbai & Suburbs: Partly cloudy skies with moderate rain. Maximum temperature around 29°C and minimum 24°C.
Konkan Region (Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg): Heavy to very heavy rainfall likely. Yellow alert in place.
Western Maharashtra: Pune, Satara, Sangli, and Solapur districts placed under yellow alert. Kolhapur excluded.
Marathwada: All 8 districts under yellow alert with the possibility of heavy downpour, thunderstorms, and winds at 30–40 km/h.
North Maharashtra: No major alert except for moderate rainfall expected in Nashik, Jalgaon, Dhule, and Nandurbar.
Vidarbha: Yellow alert for Amravati, Nagpur, and Gadchiroli. Light to moderate rain predicted in Buldhana, Akola, Washim, Yavatmal, Wardha, Bhandara, and Gondia.
Cause of Heavy Rainfall
According to IMD, a low-pressure system near the Vidarbha–Telangana border is fueling widespread rainfall across Maharashtra. Over the past few days, Mumbai, Konkan, and Marathwada have witnessed heavy showers leading to waterlogging, rising river levels, and disruption of normal life.
