Actress chooses family life over comeback to the long-running sitcom
Fans of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC) have been waiting for years to see Disha Vakani reprise her iconic role as Dayaben. However, her brother and co-actor Mayur Vakani has now confirmed that she will not be returning to the show.
Disha Vakani, who joined TMKOC in 2008, won audiences over with her unique portrayal of Dayaben. In 2017, she took maternity leave and stepped away from the series, leaving a void that remains unfilled even after seven years. Despite countless rumours about her comeback, her absence has now been clarified by her brother.
Mayur Vakani explained that their late father always taught them to perform every role both on-screen and in real life, with full dedication. Disha, he said, has taken this teaching to heart. As she is now dedicated to her role as a mother, she has chosen not to return to acting.
Meanwhile, TMKOC continues to entertain audiences even after 17 years on air and has recently crossed the milestone of 4,500 episodes, maintaining its strong TRP ratings.
