Unusual delivery sparks laughter and speculation on social media

In a surprising twist to India’s quick-commerce scene, a Blinkit delivery agent recently turned heads by arriving at a customer’s doorstep in a sleek black Mahindra Thar instead of the usual scooter or bicycle. The video, shared on Instagram by user @divyagroovezz, has since gone viral, clocking over 390,000 views and flooding social media with humour and speculation.

The clip shows the agent stepping out of the shiny SUV with a grocery parcel in hand, while stunned customers behind the camera can be heard exclaiming in Hindi, “Bhai, yeh Thar mein delivery karne aaya hai!” (Brother, he’s come to deliver in a Thar!). The video’s caption cheekily asked Blinkit if it was paying its agents so well, or if Mahindra was offering the Thar at throwaway prices.

Owned by Zomato, Blinkit deliveries are typically managed on two-wheelers to ensure speed and efficiency in congested urban streets. The sight of a delivery being made in a Thar stood out as an unusual spectacle. While the actual reason for the SUV delivery remains unknown, online users were quick to offer theories. Some guessed it could have been a branch owner filling in after a bike breakdown, while others joked it might be a creative way to balance out hefty car loan payments.

Social media buzzed with witty takes, from calling it the “Blinkit premium version” to sharing similar experiences of getting deliveries from luxury car owners.

One popular comment quipped, “EMI due ho rahi hogi” (The EMI must be due).

Another user lightheartedly added, “Some people do it for timepass or experience, I once got a delivery from a Scorpio owner.”

The incident not only entertained netizens but also sparked conversations about the changing face of India’s booming quick-commerce industry, where even a routine grocery drop can become a viral moment.
