Pune, October 6, 2025: In a major relief for the residents of Thite Wasti, the long-stalled construction of the crucial culvert has finally resumed, ending years of inconvenience and safety concerns for the local community.

For several years, residents of Thite Wasti in Kharadi had been facing severe flooding during the monsoon, with rainwater often entering homes and making it extremely difficult and dangerous  for people to cross the area. The absence of a proper culvert caused waterlogging and restricted access, creating daily hardships.

The project had been pending for an extended period due to multiple administrative and local issues. Residents approached Jayesh Maduskar, Chairman of Nyati Elysia Cronus, PMC Warriors, seeking intervention to help resolve the matter.

Speaking about the development, Maduskar said, “When we visited the site, we found that the primary reason for the delay was the proposed relocation of a tree that held religious significance for local citizens. After understanding the residents’ sentiments, we coordinated with Suryawanshi, Deputy Engineer, and Susheel Mohite, Junior Engineer from PMC, and explored alternate design options to avoid relocating the tree.”

He further added that the revised design was promptly approved, and a new work order was issued, ensuring immediate resumption of construction.

As an interim relief, We also facilitated GSB work with the help of PMC Road department on the existing area to minimize inconvenience for residents during the Ganpati festival, ensuring smoother movement and safety until the culvert work is completed.

Both Suryawanshi and Mohite have been instrumental in driving multiple civic initiatives in coordination with PMCWarriors, including ongoing road and footpath restoration along the Riverfront Road.

Local residents expressed their gratitude for the quick resolution.  Kamble, a resident of Tithe Wasti, said,  Maduskar has always supported us in resolving various civic issues. Resuming this culvert work is truly a life-saver for our community.”

Another resident, Lavand, added, “PMCWarriors have helped us on several occasions. We always reach out to Mr. Maduskar without hesitation, and this time again, his intervention brought long-awaited relief.”

The completion of the culvert will significantly improve connectivity and reduce flooding issues in the locality, marking another example of how active citizen participation and administrative collaboration can bring meaningful change to local communities.
