Pune: Pulse Polio Vaccination Drive On October 12 For Children Under Five
Pune, October 8, 2025: The Pune District Health Department, in collaboration with the District Hospital, Aundh, and Pune Municipal Corporation, will organize a Pulse Polio Vaccination Drive on Sunday, October 12, 2025. All children aged 0 to 5 years will be administered the polio vaccine, said Dr. Ramchandra Hankare, District Health Officer.
As part of the mission to achieve a “Polio-Free India,” the campaign aims to vaccinate a total of 5,76,497 children in both urban and rural areas, including 5,06,809 in rural regions and 69,690 in urban areas.
Across the district, 4,223 polio booths will be set up, supported by 10,318 personnel, including health workers, Anganwadi workers, ASHA volunteers, and local NGOs. Children missed during the main drive will receive vaccinations through a house-to-house campaign from October 14 to 16.
Special control rooms have been established at all health centers in the district, and adequate vaccine stocks and transport arrangements have been ensured. Dr. Hankare appealed to medical staff, parents, volunteers, aware citizens, and social organizations to actively participate in the campaign.
Gajanan Patil, Chief Executive Officer, Pune District Council, emphasized, “It is the responsibility of every parent to ensure that each child receives the two drops of polio vaccine. The health department is taking all measures to ensure that no child is left unvaccinated. Parents are urged to get their children aged 0 to 5 vaccinated during this campaign.”
