Weather Warning: IMD Predicts Unseasonal Rain and Thunderstorms in Pune, Satara, Kolhapur This Diwali
Pune, October 19, 2025: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for several districts in western Maharashtra, warning of unseasonal rain and thunderstorms from Pune to Kolhapur during the Diwali period.
Despite the official withdrawal of the monsoon, unseasonal rainfall is expected to disrupt festive plans as the region faces changing weather conditions.
In Pune district, Saturday’s maximum temperature was recorded at 32.7°C, and the IMD predicts rainfall accompanied by lightning today. The temperature is likely to hover around 33°C, with humidity and intermittent showers affecting evening celebrations.
Satara also reported a maximum of 32.6°C in the last 24 hours. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for the entire district, including hilly areas, predicting rain and thunderstorms today.
Similar conditions are expected in Solapur and Sangli, where maximum temperatures reached 34.7°C and 33.4°C, respectively.
According to the forecast, heavy rain with lightning may continue over the next few days across western Maharashtra.
Except for Solapur and Sangli, most districts in the region will remain under a yellow alert for the next three days. Authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious during festive travel and outdoor celebrations.
