Pune, October 31, 2025: To commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Pune Police organised a citywide ‘Run for Unity’ on Thursday, October 31. 

The event, held across all police stations under the Pune Police Commissionerate, aimed to promote the ideals of national unity, integrity, and togetherness while paying tribute to the Iron Man of India.

The runs at Kondhwa and Kalepadal Police Stations were among the highlights of the initiative. Under the guidance of Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar and Dr. Rajkumar Shinde, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5), the event saw enthusiastic participation from police officers, residents, and local youth. The initiative was also supported by the Blue Brigade Runners Group, which encouraged community engagement and fitness.

At Kondhwa Police Station, Senior Police Inspector Kumar Ghadge led the run, from Lonkar Lawns, NIBM Road, and continued through Tribeca High Street (3 km) and Raheja Vista Circle (5 km). 

Similarly, the Kalepadal Police Station, under Senior Police Inspector Mansingh Patil, began its run from Shriram Chowk on Handewadi Road at the same time.

Participants expressed pride in being part of an event symbolising unity and patriotism. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also called upon citizens nationwide to join the ‘Run for Unity’, reinforcing Sardar Patel’s enduring legacy of integrating the nation through strength, leadership, and solidarity.
