Bopodi Land Scam: Pune Tehsildar and Eight Others Booked for Forging Documents to Claim Government Property
Pune, November 7, 2025: A major land scam has surfaced in Pune’s Bopodi area, where government-owned agricultural land was allegedly shown as private property using forged documents. The Khadak Police have registered a case against nine people, including Tehsildar Suryakant Yevale, for alleged misuse of power and illegal land transfer.
The complaint was filed by Deputy Tehsildar Praveena Borde on behalf of the government. Based on her report, the police have booked Yevale along with Hemant Gavande, Rajendra Ramchandra Vidhwans, Hrishikesh Madhav Vidhwans, Mangal Madhav Vidhwans, Vidyanand Avinash Puranik (Indore), Jayashree Sanjay Ekbote (Mumbai), Sheetal Kishanchand Tejwani, and Digvijay Amarsingh Patil, director of Amedia Enterprises LLP.
According to the FIR, Yevale allegedly misused his position between February 2024 and July 2025 to classify over 5.35 hectares of agricultural land in Bopodi—owned by the Agriculture Department since 1883—as private property. He is accused of using provisions from the Mumbai Tenancy and Agricultural Lands Act, 1948, which does not apply to land within municipal limits, to facilitate the fraudulent transfer.
Investigators claim that Yevale, in coordination with Gavande and other accused, created fake letters and government orders to establish false ownership of the land. The group reportedly conspired to cheat the government by attempting to transfer state-owned property into private hands.
The Khadak Police have initiated an investigation into the case. The involvement of a senior revenue officer has raised serious concerns about corruption and procedural lapses in Pune’s land administration system.
