Pune Division Gets Special Attention As Railway Board’s Hitendra Malhotra Inspects Key Stations and Terminals
Pune, November 11, 2025: Hitendra Malhotra, Member (Operations & Business Development), Railway Board, conducted a detailed inspection of Pune Division, Central Railway, to review ongoing infrastructure, operational, and development works across key locations of the division.
He was accompanied by Arvind Malkhede, Principal Chief Commercial Manager (PCCM), Central Railway, Shyam Sunder Gupta, Principal Chief Operations Manager (PCOM), Central Railway, and Rajesh Kumar Verma, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Pune, along with all branch officers.
The inspection commenced at Pune Railway Station, where MO&BD Railway board reviewed passenger amenities, the ongoing station redevelopment project, and the yard remodelling works aimed to improve operational efficiency and passenger handling capacity.
He examined the progress of circulating area development, façade improvement, passenger flow management, and enhanced waiting hall facilities.
Following the station inspection, the MO&BD Railway board visited the Hadapsar Satellite Terminal, a major infrastructure project under execution to decongest Pune Station and enhance terminal capacity for originating and terminating trains. He inspected infrastructure development at the terminal. MO&BD, Railway board appreciated the coordinated efforts in ensuring timely progress of the project.

Subsequently, MO&BD, Railway board inspected the Loni Goods Shed, where he assessed freight handling facilities, loading-unloading arrangements, and the digital integration of freight operations. He emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of safety, punctuality, and customer-oriented freight services to strengthen Pune Division’s freight performance.
At Uruli Mega Terminal, the MO&BD,Railway board reviewed the progress of goods handling and infrastructure augmentation works under the Gati Shakti initiative.
The inspection concluded at Alandi Coaching Terminal, where MO&BD Railway board,examined the newly developed stabling lines, coach maintenance facilities, and ongoing works to upgrade the terminal for better operational flexibility. He lauded the efforts of the division in developing Alandi as a future-ready terminal to cater the increasing coaching requirements of Pune region.
During the inspection, Hitendra Malhotra Member (Operations & Business Development), Railway Board commended the coordinated efforts of the officers and staff of Pune Division under the leadership of Rajesh Kumar Verma, DRM/Pune Division for their commitment towards infrastructure modernization and passenger service excellence.
