Pune, November 14, 2025: In a solemn initiative to honor those lost to road accidents and push for safer streets, a silent walkathon will be held in Hinjawadi on Sunday, November 16, 2025. The event marks the global observance of the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.
Organized jointly by Parisar Sanstha, the Transport Commissioner’s Office, Mumbai, and other local bodies, the program will begin at 8:00 AM from Yash One Society, Maan Gaon, Pathak Road, Hinjewadi Phase 1. The walkathon will be followed by a memorial ceremony at the society’s Multipurpose Hall, where families who have lost loved ones in road crashes will be honored.
This year, the organizers have specifically chosen Hinjewadi due to the alarming rise in accidents and fatalities in the area. Poor road conditions and reckless driving have been cited as major contributors to the growing number of incidents.
Aditya Chawande, Programme Associate and Urban Designer at Parisar, stated, “Every year on the third Sunday of November. We have organize this event in different cities too, to bring awareness. This year, we selected Hinjewadi because the area has witnessed several tragic accidents recently, including cases in the past month alone. Our aim is not only to console affected families but also to urge civic authorities to improve road infrastructure and ensure timely maintenance for safer commutes.”

The World Day of Remembrance is observed worldwide to pay tribute to road accident victims and advocate for stronger road safety measures. The event in Pune aims to raise public awareness about responsible driving and the urgent need for better road engineering and enforcement.
Citizens, traffic officials, and representatives from civic bodies are expected to attend the event to show solidarity and renew their commitment to making Pune’s roads safer for all.
