Weather Alert: Sunday Weather Shift Brings New Advisory for Mumbai–Pune
IMD Maharashtra Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cold wave alert for Pune and several other cities across Maharashtra, forecasting a sharp drop in temperatures over the next few days. The department has indicated that parts of the state may experience the season’s first cold wave from Sunday through Tuesday.
According to IMD data, Pune recorded a minimum temperature of 11.2°C on Saturday, with temperatures expected to remain at similar levels until Monday. Many parts of the city have also reported maximum temperatures dropping below 30°C. On Sunday morning, Pune touched 10.6°C, with Shivajinagar and Pashan recording 10.6°C and 10.1°C respectively.
Jalgaon recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the state at 8.7°C, which is six degrees below normal, making it the coldest region in Maharashtra this weekend. Other districts expected to experience cold wave-like conditions include Nashik, Ahmednagar, Jalna, Beed, Hingoli, and Nanded.
IMD noted that dry weather conditions, clear post-monsoon skies, and cold northerly winds are driving nighttime temperatures below 10°C in several regions. Jeur in central Maharashtra also recorded 9.0°C, one of the lowest minimum temperatures in the region.
The weather department has advised residents in northern and central Maharashtra to take necessary precautions as temperatures continue to decline.
In Mumbai and its suburbs, the next 24 hours are expected to remain clear, with maximum and minimum temperatures likely to hover around 32°C and 17°C. For the next three days, skies across Konkan-Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada are expected to remain mostly clear.
