Dhayari, Pune: A shocking murder took place on Monday afternoon in the parking area of a residential building at Vadgaon Budruk, near Sinhgad Road. Around 2.30 pm, a group of five attackers assaulted a 22-year-old man with sickles and then killed him by crushing his head with a stone.
The victim has been identified as Taukir Shaikh, a resident of Dhankawadi. Police confirmed that he had several criminal cases registered against him.
According to preliminary information, two of the five attackers are believed to be minors. Sinhgad Road Police have launched a detailed investigation and are probing whether the murder was linked to personal rivalry, a gang dispute, or some other motive. Several police teams have been deployed to trace the accused.
Police said the incident occurred at the parking area of the Krishnakunj building in Minakshipuram, on the road leading to Sinhgad College. Taukir was sitting there when the five attackers arrived and suddenly began attacking him with sickles. After he collapsed in a pool of blood, the group crushed his head with a stone and fled.
Police reached the spot soon after receiving the alert and took custody of the body for further procedures. The exact motive behind the killing is yet to be determined.
