Pune Police Hand Over 171 Recovered Phones To Citizens

Pune: The Pune City Police successfully conducted a mobile phone return programme in Zone 5, where 171 lost or missing mobile phones were handed back to their owners. The event was held following instructions from the Commissioner of Police to organise such distribution drives at the circle level on November 20 and 21.

As per the directive, the programme for Zone 5 took place on November 21, 2025, from 11 am to 1 pm at Netaji Mangal Karyalay, Manjari Road, opposite Annasaheb Magar College, Hadapsar. The event was led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Circle 5), Dr. Rajkumar Shinde.

Assistant Commissioners of Police, Anuradha Udamale (Hadapsar Division) and Namrata Desai (Wanawadi Division), along with officers from all nine police stations under Circle 5, were present.

The recovered phones were traced through complaints registered on the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal and the Pune City Police Lost & Found portal. A total of 171 recovered devices were officially returned by DCP Dr. Shinde to their rightful owners.

Citizens expressed heartfelt gratitude, stating that their mobiles held priceless memories, important data, and emotional value. Many shared that they had lost hope of getting their phones back, and praised the police for restoring their trust in the system.
