Pune, November 25, 2025: Despite repeated complaints from residents, the Pune Municipal Corporation failed to repair a pothole in Bhusari Colony—prompting a group of young children to step in and fix it themselves.

The incident has raised serious questions about civic apathy and highlighted the proactive spirit of the next generation.

The pothole had formed around a chamber in Lane No. 3 near Runwal building in Right Bhusari Colony. Locals frequently stumbled, and vehicle wheels often hit the damaged patch. Although residents lodged an online complaint, the issue remained unattended for days.

Seeing no action from the authorities, young children from the neighbourhood—Parth Kanojia, Rudra Kad, Rudra Kadam and Samarth Huksale—decided to repair the pothole on their own. They collected cement and water from a nearby construction site and filled the pothole, even placing paver blocks on top to prevent vehicles from driving over it until it dried.

Residents said they had filed the complaint on November 18, but the municipal corporation ignored it. They added that today’s children, who represent the future generation, took responsible action before any accident could occur.

Local resident remarked that citizens pay taxes but still end up solving their problems themselves due to civic inaction. “If this continues, what is the need for a municipal corporation?” he asked.

Residents praised the children’s efforts but said the episode reflects poorly on the municipal administration, which, they believe, must learn from these youngsters.
