Maharashtra: A severe cold wave is expected to hit several parts of Maharashtra over the next few days, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a cold wave alert for six districts in the state. The warning is effective for December 3, with temperatures likely to drop sharply across multiple regions, especially in North Maharashtra, Vidarbha and Marathwada.

According to IMD officials, Maharashtra is likely to experience a colder-than-average winter from December to February, with both maximum and minimum temperatures expected to remain at or below normal levels this season.

Cold Wave to Intensify in Marathwada and Vidarbha

Cold conditions are likely to intensify further in Marathwada and Vidarbha over the coming days. A cold wave warning has been issued for six districts on December 3, and yellow alerts have been activated in several areas.

Residents have been advised to take precautions against dropping temperatures, particularly the elderly, children, and people with existing health conditions.

Mumbai Weather Update: No Major Drop Expected

While temperatures are falling across much of the state, Mumbai is unlikely to witness a significant dip. The city is expected to record:

Maximum temperature: 33°C

Minimum temperature: 16°C

The sky will remain clear and dry conditions will prevail. Similar weather patterns are expected in nearby areas.

Western Maharashtra: Pune, Ghats Under Cold Wave Warning

Cold conditions have intensified in Western Maharashtra, with Pune and the ghat regions placed under a cold wave warning and yellow alert.

Expected temperatures:

Maximum: 28°C

Minimum: 10°C

In Kolhapur, the minimum temperature may hover around 16°C.

Marathwada: Temperature Dip Continues

In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, the sky will remain clear and dry, with:

Other parts of Marathwada are also experiencing a noticeable fall in temperatures, increasing the winter chill.

Nashik Records Biggest Drop; Yellow Alert Issued

Nashik has recorded the sharpest dip in temperatures so far. On December 3, the city is expected to witness:

Maximum: 29°C

Minimum: 9°C

Cold wave warnings have been issued for Nashik, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Nashik Ghat areas, and Ahilyanagar, and all have been placed under a yellow alert.

Vidarbha Weather: Fog and Cloud Cover Likely

Cold conditions are also intensifying in Vidarbha. Nagpur is likely to witness foggy and partly cloudy conditions with:

Minimum: 13°C

Other districts in Vidarbha are also registering a steady decline in temperatures.
