Pune, December 11, 2025:

The Maharashtra Government’s Infrastructure Committee has approved the extension of the proposed flyover on the Pune–Solapur Highway, which will now run from Bhairobanala to Yavat. This decision aims to provide major relief from chronic traffic congestion between Hadapsar and Yavat, a stretch that has witnessed rapid urbanisation and heavy vehicular load.

Earlier, the government had sanctioned a six-lane flyover between Hadapsar and Yavat, along with widening the existing road into a six-lane corridor. With the latest approval, the flyover will begin from Bhairobanala instead of Hadapsar, adding approximately 4.5 km to its total length.

The approval was granted during a meeting of the Infrastructure Committee chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Speaking after the meeting, the Chief Minister stated that starting the flyover from Bhairobanala would significantly help in tackling the persistent traffic bottlenecks on the Solapur Road stretch.

Key Points of the Project

  • The flyover will now be 39 km long.
  • The project cost of ₹5,262 crore has already been approved by the state government.
  • Construction will be carried out by the
  • Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) on a BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) basis.
  • Toll will be levied on all vehicles after project completion.
  • The contractor must complete the work within three years of receiving the work order.
  • Land acquisition for the project will be handled by MSRDC.
  • The extended flyover, once completed, is expected to significantly reduce travel time and streamline traffic flow on the busy Pune–Solapur National Highway.
