Pune Railway Station Introduces Digital Locker Facility to Enhance Passenger Convenience
Pune, December 17, 2025: Under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Rajesh Kumar Verma and directions of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Anil Kumar Pathak, Pune Division, Central Railway, has introduced a Digital Locker facility at Pune Railway Station for the first time under the Non-Fare Revenue (NFR) initiative, aimed at enhancing passenger amenities while optimizing station space utilization.
The contract for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the Digital Locker facility has been awarded to Eurosteel Office Furniture Systems Pvt. Ltd. The lockers installed are Fonzel Smart Lockers, powered by Durolt Smart Locker Technology. The facility has been provided at Platform No. 01, Mumbai end, beside the multipurpose stall at Pune Railway Station.
The Digital Locker facility comprises a total of 24 lockers, available in multiple sizes such as Medium (M), Large (L), and Extra Large (XL), catering to varied luggage storage requirements of passengers.
In this connection, the Digital Locker usage charges proposed for passengers at Pune Railway Station are as under. The facility has been provided with lockers of three different sizes to cater to varied passenger requirements. Medium (M) size lockers (Dimensions: W 1.8 ft × D 2 ft × H 1.4 ft), comprising 04 doors, are proposed to be charged at ₹60 for up to 06 hours and ₹140 for up to 24 hours. Large (L) size lockers (Dimensions: W 1.8 ft × D 2 ft × H 1.8 ft), comprising 11 doors, are proposed at ₹140 for up to 06 hours and ₹170 for up to 24 hours. Extra Large (XL) lockers (Dimensions: W 1.8 ft × D 2 ft × H 2.8 ft), comprising 08 doors, are proposed at ₹170 for up to 06 hours and ₹270 for up to 24 hours.
These tariff rates have been fixed with the objective of providing safe, convenient and affordable luggage storage facilities to passengers while ensuring transparent operations and augmentation of Non-Fare Revenue.
Further, for passenger convenience, a dedicated helpline number is displayed on the Digital Locker units to provide assistance during storage or retrieval of luggage. In case passengers are unable to view the helpline details, they may directly contact the service provider’s support team at 1800 267 8737 for immediate assistance.
The lockers operate through a fully electronic and automated system, with no manual intervention, ensuring a seamless, transparent, and user-friendly experience. The installation is compact, thoughtfully planned, and positioned so as not to obstruct passenger movement. It is also aesthetically designed to blend well with the station environment. Additionally, the locker unit is movable in nature, offering operational flexibility for future requirements.
This facility provides a safe, secure, and convenient luggage storage solution, particularly benefiting transit passengers, tourists, and daily commuters. The initiative reflects Pune Division’s continuous efforts to introduce passenger-centric facilities while simultaneously augmenting Non-Fare Revenue through innovative and sustainable measures.
