Maharashtra| December 23:

Maharashtra is set to witness intensified cold conditions over the next 24 hours as temperatures continue to fluctuate across the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert, warning of a sharp drop in minimum temperatures in several regions, with cold conditions expected to persist.

Over the past two to three days, a noticeable increase in cold has been recorded across most parts of Maharashtra. Cities including Pune, Nashik, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and large parts of Vidarbha are experiencing a sustained cold spell. Even Mumbai and its suburban areas have reported a dip in minimum temperatures.

Mumbai Weather Update

Mumbai city and suburbs are likely to experience dry weather. The minimum temperature is expected to drop by around 1°C. According to forecasts, Mumbai’s maximum temperature will hover around 32°C, while the minimum may fall to nearly 17°C, bringing a noticeable chill during early morning and late-night hours.

Pune and Western Maharashtra

Cold conditions will continue across Pune and Western Maharashtra. Pune city is expected to record a minimum temperature of around 9°C. Similar cold conditions are predicted in Satara, Sangli, Solapur, and Kolhapur, where residents are likely to feel a sharp winter chill.

North Maharashtra

North Maharashtra experienced cold wave-like conditions over the past two days. While there has been a slight rise in minimum temperatures, the cold has not fully eased. Nashik and Jalgaon are expected to record minimum temperatures close to 10°C, maintaining chilly mornings and nights.

Marathwada Region

In Marathwada, including Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, slightly cloudy conditions had earlier reduced the intensity of the cold. However, temperatures are expected to drop again, with minimum temperatures ranging between 9°C and 11°C across the region.

Vidarbha Remains Cold

Cold conditions persist in Vidarbha, with Nagpur’s minimum temperature dropping to around 9°C. The IMD has indicated that chilly weather is likely to continue in Vidarbha over the next few days.

Impact and Advisory

This year, all regions of Maharashtra are experiencing a pronounced winter. While the cold weather is considered favourable for rabi crops, citizens—especially children and senior citizens—are advised to take precautions to avoid cold-related health issues.
