Vineeth K, a homeowner, has been placing water bottles outside his house for delivery partners and passersby who may need a drink. The idea isn’t flashy or complicated, but its impact has resonated widely on social media.
Vineeth began this practice back in 2022 and has made it a yearly routine ever since. Every summer, he ensures that chilled water bottles are kept at the entrance of his home, freely available to anyone feeling thirsty.
Sharing a photo of the bottles on X (formerly Twitter), Vineeth wrote, “Started this in 2022. Every summer, we place water bottles at our entrance so delivery partners can take if they’re thirsty.” He added that while the gesture may seem small, many people have told him it means a lot to see someone thinking about them during a tough workday. According to his post, Vineeth spends around ₹1,500 each year to purchase nearly 300 water bottles. They are placed in an easily accessible spot so delivery workers don’t have to hesitate before taking one.
The post quickly struck a chord with users on X, drawing warm and encouraging reactions. One user shared that they were inspired to do something similar, writing that they planned to keep a matka and glass outside their home during summer. Another user offered a practical suggestion, advising that the bottles should be kept in the shade, as direct sunlight on plastic bottles is not advisable.
