Ranveer Singh’s latest espionage thriller, Dhurandhar, is creating waves not just in India but across borders, particularly in Pakistan. Despite the film being officially banned in the country, it has become one of the most pirated movies there, with over 2 million illegal downloads in just 12 days. Adding to the buzz, music from the film is now making its way into weddings and celebrations, showing that Bollywood’s charm knows no boundaries.

A recent video that has gone viral shows two Pakistani women performing a lively dance to Shararat, one of the tracks from Dhurandhar. Dressed in vibrant traditional lehengas, the women executed perfectly synchronized moves while the guests cheered them on. The video quickly gained traction on social media, where viewers expressed a mix of amusement, admiration, and a touch of irony about Pakistanis’ love for Bollywood.

Some comments highlighted the apparent contradiction, noting how people criticize Indian films yet can’t resist dancing to their tunes. “Their mindset is to keep criticizing the movie while grooving to its songs at events. Hypocrisy much?” wrote one user. Others emphasized the sheer popularity of the film, with one remarking, “Pakistan literally crossed 1.8 million pirated downloads of Dhurandhar. If it weren’t banned, the film could have easily earned Rs 1800 crore there.” Another playfully added, “Pakistanis are loving Dhurandhar like anything. Maybe they’ll give Nishan-e-Pakistan to Aditya Dhar!”

Shararat features TV actress Krystle D’Souza alongside content creator Ayesha Khan, and the song has become an instant hit since the movie’s theatrical release. This isn’t the first instance of Dhurandhar’s music trending in Pakistan. Back in December, former Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari made a grand entrance at an event to the film’s viral track FA9LA, which highlights one of the movie’s key characters, the notorious don Rehman Dakaitan played by Akshaye Khanna.

The film’s phenomenal reception in Pakistan comes despite bans not just in the country but also across six Gulf nations, due to its so-called “anti-Pakistan narrative.” Nevertheless, piracy hasn’t slowed its popularity, with Dhurandhar overtaking even blockbuster hits like Rajinikanth’s 2.0 and Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees in terms of illegal downloads.

Meanwhile, in India, the film continues its record-breaking streak. Since its release on December 5, the Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, and R. Madhavan starrer has dominated the box office. On its fifth weekend alone, Dhurandhar earned Rs 33.25 crore, bringing its total collection to an astounding Rs 772.87 crore, according to Sacnilk.
