Pune: Students and Senior Citizens Drive Dialogue At Viman Nagar’s ‘Know Your Candidate’ Meet Ahead Of PMC Elections
Pune, January 13, 2026: A ‘Know Your Candidate’ programme was organised in Viman Nagar on Sunday evening for residents of Ward No. 3 ahead of the upcoming Municipal Corporation elections. The event brought together all 11 candidates contesting the polls, representing different political parties, offering citizens a common platform to interact with and understand their prospective representatives.
The programme was held by Viman Nagar Vikas Samiti.
The highlight of the programme was a creative and thought-provoking presentation by students of Anand Vidyaniketan School, who showcased the local election manifesto through a short play. Using impactful storytelling, the students highlighted pressing civic issues such as the absence of safe footpaths and the need to develop a Vyasan Mukth (addiction-free) neighbourhood. The performance directly addressed these concerns to the candidates, drawing strong attention from both residents and political representatives.

Senior citizens also played a key role in the programme by presenting a skit that reflected the daily challenges faced by the elderly in the area. Their performance outlined expectations related to better infrastructure, safety, accessibility, and social support from future elected corporators.
The event was organised by the Viman Nagar Vikas Samiti with the objective of familiarising residents with the candidates contesting from the ward and encouraging informed and responsible voting. More than 500 residents of Viman Nagar attended the programme, making it a significant civic engagement initiative and a strong example of community participation in the democratic process.
