Pimpri Chinchwad | January 14, 2026 — With the 2026 Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) elections entering the final phase, the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate has initiated extensive preventive actions and security preparations to ensure peaceful and fair voting.

Polling will take place on January 15, 2026, while counting is scheduled for January 16, 2026. Within the Commissionerate limits, there are 2,135 polling stations across 420 buildings.

Preventive & Legal Actions
Since the Model Code of Conduct came into effect, police have taken action under multiple legal provisions:

Total 962 individuals booked under preventive sections including BNS 126, 128, 129 and Maharashtra Prohibition Act.

50 offenders externed outside the district under BNS 170(3).

7 criminals detained under MPDA.

9 gangs booked under MCOCA, impacting 47 accused.

37 accused externed under MP Act Sections 55, 56, 57.

Under BNS 163(2), 438 habitual offenders were ordered to stay away from designated local areas.

Action Against Illegal Activities
Liquor seizures: 276 raids under the Maharashtra Prohibition Act; liquor worth ₹10,36,972 seized.

Narcotics: 18 NDPS raids leading to seizure of ganja, MD, OG Kush valued at ₹66,19,531.

Action Against Illegal Weapons
Since the code of conduct:

9 illegal firearms seized, 8 FIRs registered, 11 accused arrested.

23 sharp weapons seized, 20 FIRs lodged, 22 accused arrested.

Special Campaign Results
Between Nov 1, 2025 and Jan 11, 2026:

91 firearms seized, 70 FIRs, 81 arrests.

229 sharp weapons seized, 193 FIRs, 219 arrests.
During anti-drug drive (Dec 5, 2025 – Jan 11, 2026):

57 NDPS raids, narcotics worth ₹76,09,701 seized.

Cash Seizures
A total of ₹16,17,400 in unaccounted cash seized during routine checks.

Pre-Poll Bandobast & Deployment
34 checking teams formed with 68 police personnel to enforce code of conduct.

1,306 licensed firearms deposited by citizens.

12 route marches conducted to enhance public confidence.

Final stage measures to include increased patrolling, nakabandi, criminal surveillance, and route marches.
