Pune Grand Challenge Tour 2026: Schools On Race Route in Pimpri-Chinchwad To Remain Closed After 12 Noon On January 23
Pune, January 21, 2026: In view of the fourth stage of the international Pune Grand Challenge Tour 2026, the District Collector and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, Jitendra Dudi, has issued orders directing that all government and private schools located along the competition route within the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) limits must be closed after 12 noon on January 23. Schools have been permitted to function normally until 12 noon on the same day, after which they must remain closed.
As part of Stage Four, the cycling race will begin at Chhatrapati Shivaji Stadium, Balewadi, proceed into Pune city, and then re-enter the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate limits via the Rajiv Gandhi Bridge. The route will pass through Sangvi, Wakad, Nigdi, Triveni Nagar, Bhosari, Chikhali, Pimpri–Kalewadi areas before again entering Pune city via the Rajiv Gandhi Bridge.
To ensure the smooth and safe conduct of the event and to avoid inconvenience to citizens, entry of all types of vehicles on the race route has been prohibited, and traffic will be diverted through alternative routes.
To minimise inconvenience to students, the closure order applies to all government and private schools located along the race route in the areas of Sangvi, Wakad, Ravet, Tathawade, Punawale, Nigdi Pradhikaran, Indrayani Nagar, Chinchwad MIDC, Chikhali, Kalewadi, Bhosari MIDC, Yashwant Nagar Pimpri, and Triveni Nagar. All these schools will remain closed after 12 noon on January 23, as per the official directive.
