Pune: PCMC To Hold Special Meeting On February 6 For Mayor, Deputy Mayor Elections And Committee Appointments

Pimpri–Chinchwad, January 24, 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has scheduled a special meeting on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 11 am in the Yashwantrao Chavan Auditorium of the main administrative building to conduct elections for the posts of Mayor and Deputy Mayor. The meeting will also finalize appointments to the Standing Committee and five other special committees, Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar confirmed.
The Mayor’s post has been reserved for the general category. Elections for both Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be held during the special session, as per orders issued by Pune Divisional Commissioner Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar. Cooperative Commissioner Deepak Tawre will preside over the meeting as the divisional representative.
In accordance with the Maharashtra Municipal Corporations Act, a special session must be convened for electing the Mayor and Deputy Mayor. PCMC’s session on February 6 will also involve appointments to the 16-member Standing Committee and five special committees, each comprising nine members. Representation will be allocated based on party or group strength, while the Women and Child Welfare Committee will include at least 75% women members, City Secretary Mukesh Kolpe stated.
Nomination forms for Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be available on the third floor of the municipal building at the City Secretary’s office. Submission of nominations has been scheduled for Monday, February 2, 2026, between 3 pm and 5 pm.
