Pune: 18-Year-Old Woman Killed After Speeding RMC Truck Runs Over Her In Susgaon; Accident Caught On CCTV
Pune was shaken once again on Sunday morning after a 65-year-old woman lost her life in a tragic hit-and-run incident while out for her routine morning walk in the Pashan area. The incident has triggered fresh concerns over pedestrian safety and rash driving in the city.
The deceased has been identified as Asha Patil (65). According to police, the incident occurred around 6:30 am near the National Chemical Laboratory (NCL) Institute on Pashan Road. Patil was walking along the road when a speeding car hit her from behind, causing severe head injuries. She died on the spot due to the impact.
What has further angered citizens is the conduct of the driver after the accident. Instead of stopping to help, the car driver allegedly fled the scene immediately, leaving the injured woman unattended. Locals rushed Patil to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead before admission.
Upon receiving information, the authorities reached the spot and began investigations. A case has been registered against the unknown car driver, and police have launched a search operation to trace the accused. Officials are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the vehicle and the driver involved.
The incident has once again brought the issue of hit-and-run cases in Pune into focus. Residents have expressed strong resentment over increasing accidents involving pedestrians, especially senior citizens, and have demanded stricter enforcement of traffic rules and improved safety measures.
Police have appealed to citizens to share any information related to the incident that could help in identifying the absconding driver.
