Pune: CME Resident Goes To Watch Movie, Returns To Find Gold Jewellery Weighing 20 Tolas Stolen From Home In Dapodi
Pune, January 27, 2026: The Dapodi Police have registered a cognisable offence in connection with a house burglary reported from the CME area of Dapodi. The case has been recorded under Sections 305 and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), officials confirmed on Monday.
The complainant has been identified as a resident of CME, Dapodi, Pune. According to the police complaint, the burglary took place at his residence while he was away with his family to watch a movie, leaving the house locked for several hours.
As per the police record, the incident occurred on January 25, 2026, between 6.50 pm and 10.40 pm. During this time, an unidentified person allegedly broke open the latch and lock of the house and gained illegal entry into the premises.
The accused reportedly targeted the bedroom and forced open a cupboard, from where gold jewellery weighing 20.6 tolas was stolen. The total value of the stolen ornaments has been estimated at Rs 4.40 lakh, police said.
The offence was formally registered at the Dapodi Police Station on January 26, 2026, at 8.39 pm against an unknown accused. Police have launched an investigation and are examining nearby CCTV footage and other technical evidence to trace the culprit. Further investigation is currently underway.
