Aniruddha Pawaskar Appointed As New City Engineer Of Pune Municipal Corporation
Pune, January 30, 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced the promotion of Aniruddha Pawaskar, currently Chief Engineer of the Road Department, to the post of City Engineer.
The decision was made by the Departmental Promotion Committee, chaired by Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram, and later approved by the City Improvement Committee.
The current City Engineer, Prashant Waghmare, who has held the post for the last many years, is set to retire on January 31, 2026. With his retirement approaching, discussions over his successor intensified in recent months.
The City Engineer is one of four statutory posts in PMC—alongside the Municipal Commissioner, Additional Commissioner, and Health Chief—requiring government approval. The role oversees all engineering-related departments and leads PMC’s Construction Department, making it highly prestigious.
Two senior officials, Aniruddha Pawaskar and Nandkishore Jagtap, Chief Engineer of the Water Supply Department, were considered for the role. After careful evaluation, Pawaskar was selected.
