Pune, February 4, 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Tuesday carried out penal action against establishments found disposing of mixed waste and using plastic carry bags in Viman Nagar, as part of its ongoing enforcement drive against violations of solid waste management rules.
The action was taken in the commercial area around the Neco Garden locality in Viman Nagar in the presence of PMC officials, including Dr Sadhana Bhangare, Assistant Officer (In-charge), SI Sachin Ladkat, and the HMS team.
During the inspection, several establishments were found violating cleanliness and solid waste management norms by failing to segregate wet and dry waste and by using single-use plastic carry bags. Fines were imposed on violators as per municipal regulations.
Officials also issued strict instructions to shop owners and commercial establishments to ensure compliance with waste segregation rules and the ban on single-use plastic. PMC warned that stringent action would be taken against repeat offenders and those continuing to flout the rules.
The civic body stated that such enforcement drives will be intensified across the city to promote cleanliness and ensure effective solid waste management.
