Pune: PMC Urges Citizens To Report Early Signs Of Infectious Diseases Through Online Surveillance Platform
Pune, February 5, 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has intensified its efforts to recover pending property tax dues by launching a large-scale special recovery drive across the city. As part of this initiative, the civic body on Monday issued seizure notices to 58 defaulters and sealed their properties for non-payment of taxes.
According to a press note issued by the Property Tax Assessment and Collection Department, PMC is yet to recover nearly ₹5,500 crore in outstanding property tax. This amount excludes dues linked to court cases, double assessment matters, and disputes related to mobile towers. In view of the mounting arrears, the civic administration has decided to take stringent action to speed up recovery.
The seizure drive, which began on February 3, focuses primarily on major defaulters with large outstanding amounts. Civic officials stated that sealing of properties will continue in the coming days as part of a more aggressive enforcement strategy to meet the corporation’s revenue targets.
PMC officials said the administration is making all possible efforts to ensure timely recovery of dues and has warned that action against defaulters will be intensified further if payments are not cleared voluntarily.
Meanwhile, the civic body has recorded a significant increase in property tax collection this financial year. As of date, PMC has collected ₹2,604 crore in property tax, compared to ₹2,007 crore during the same period last year. This reflects an increase of nearly ₹600 crore over the previous year’s collection.
The municipal administration has once again appealed to property owners with pending dues to pay their taxes voluntarily and cooperate with the corporation to avoid strict action.
