Pune: PMC Begins Action On Sus–Baner–Pashan Missing Links
Pune | February 11, 2026:
Following a high-level review meeting chaired by Maharashtra’s Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil on February 9, 2026, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has initiated concrete steps to address long-pending “missing link” road projects in the Sus–Baner–Pashan area.
As per the discussions held in the meeting with the Municipal Commissioner and senior officials, a joint site inspection was conducted on February 10, 2026, at 8:30 am by Additional Municipal Commissioner (Special) Omprakash Divte. The inspection began from the Someshwar Temple area in Pashan and extended across Baner–Balewadi wards, in the presence of elected corporators and concerned officials.
The inspection covered the ongoing road work near Kaspate Vasti, close to the bridge connecting Pune city and Wakad, along with the remaining land required for completion of the project. Officials also reviewed the Development Plan (DP) roads and other missing link locations behind the Someshwar Temple. In addition, the widening work of the narrow stretch near Sunny’s World on the Sus–Nande Road in Balewadi was also inspected.

During the visit, landowners of the concerned plots were requested to hand over the required land to the PMC at the earliest through mutual settlement, in exchange for compensation in the form of FSI (Floor Space Index) or TDR (Transferable Development Rights). The Additional Municipal Commissioner also took detailed information regarding land acquisition procedures and pending court cases related to these projects.
Clear instructions were issued to the Road Department, Building Development Department, and Land Acquisition Department to hold immediate discussions and expedite the process. The departments have been directed to ensure that land required for key missing link roads is acquired and road development work is initiated within the next three months. Accordingly, action has already been initiated by all three departments.
Officials present during the inspection included corporators Baburao Chandere, Amol Balwadkar, Rohini Chimte, and Rahul Kokate, representative of corporator Mayuri Rahul Kokate. Senior officials present were Chief Engineer (Road Department) Rajesh Bankar and Superintending Engineer Abhijit Ambekar, along with engineers and officers from the Road Department, Building Development Department, Land Acquisition Department, and other concerned PMC departments.
The initiative is expected to significantly improve connectivity, reduce traffic congestion, and strengthen infrastructure in the Sus–Baner–Pashan–Balewadi belt, which has long suffered due to incomplete road links and pending land acquisition issues.
