Shubham Mishra said his Chinese business partner dismissed online debates over balance, calling it simply “work time or personal time.”

An Indian CEO has sparked fresh discussion online after sharing what he called a “brutally practical” insight from a conversation with a Chinese entrepreneur.

Shubham Mishra, an Indian founder, recently spoke about his interaction with a new Chinese distribution partner while discussing the differences between Indian and Chinese entrepreneurial cultures. Mishra said he expected a philosophical answer, but instead received a short and direct reply that left a strong impression.

“He paused for a few seconds and said in his broken English: ‘We don’t believe in work-life balance and its online debates. There’s only two things: work time or personal time’,” Mishra recalled.

Reflecting on the remark, Mishra wrote that while people often romanticise the idea of “balance,” others focus on execution with clarity.

The post drew a wide range of reactions online. One person commented, “Sometimes balance isn’t dividing time; it’s deciding what deserves your full attention in each moment.” Another added, “That is a refreshing take on work and life.”

Mishra also shared a business update in the same post, saying that some Chinese EV companies may soon begin using an Indian battery testing product.

“And on a brighter note, one small news: Some Chinese EV businesses will soon start using an Indian battery tester. Global trust is shifting, one battery test at a time,” he wrote.

When asked on X whether Chinese firms could reverse engineer the technology, Mishra responded that protections were in place, citing “firmware, server-side encryption, proprietary real-time datasets, trained algorithms and ghost circuits.”

Who Is Shubham Mishra?

According to his LinkedIn profile, Mishra studied at Kendriya Vidyalaya, pursued higher education at IITRAM, and later completed an executive programme at IIM Ahmedabad.
