New Entry Gates To Open At Key Pune Metro Stations From February 14 For Safer, Smoother Commutes
Pune | February 13, 2026: In a major move to enhance passenger safety and convenience, Pune Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MahaMetro) has announced the opening of new entry gates at three important metro stations. From Saturday, February 14, 2026, additional entry points will become operational at the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, Shivajinagar, and Swargate metro stations.
The initiative aims to make metro travel more secure, comfortable, and accessible by reducing the need for commuters to cross busy roads. The new entry gates will help save time and effort for passengers while significantly improving safety and pedestrian movement around high-traffic areas.

Details of the New Entry Gates:
1. Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Metro Station – Gate No. 3:
Located on the Pune–Mumbai highway on the Pune-to-Mumbai carriageway, this new gate will allow passengers coming from Pimpri city to directly access the station without crossing the main road. It will also benefit citizens visiting the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation premises, ensuring safer and smoother connectivity.
2. Swargate Metro Station – Gate No. 5:
This entry gate will open on the MSRTC (ST Stand) side and will be an underground access route. Passengers travelling by state transport buses will be able to enter the metro station directly. The new access will also help commuters avoid traffic congestion in the Swargate area and eliminate the need to cross the busy Jedhe Chowk junction.
3. Shivajinagar Metro Station – Gate No. 3:
Situated near the Akashvani Kendra at Shimla Office Chowk, this underground entry will provide direct access to commuters coming from Ganeshkhind Road and the Agriculture College side. The new gate will ensure seamless connectivity to the main road and make station access easier for daily commuters.

Speaking on the occasion, MahaMetro Managing Director Shravan Hardikar said,
“Considering the rising number of metro passengers and their convenience, these new entry gates are being opened. Citizens travelling along major roads will especially benefit from these new access points, which will significantly improve safety and accessibility.”

The new infrastructure is expected to strengthen last-mile connectivity and further boost the ease of using Pune Metro services across key transit hubs.
