Pune: Palkhi Route Works in Dehu and Alandi to Be Completed Before May 15: Collector Jitendra Dudi Directs Officials
Pune | February 23, 2026:
In view of the upcoming Ashadhi Wari Palakhi procession, Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi has directed all concerned departments to complete development and infrastructure works on the Dehu and Alandi Palakhi routes before May 15.
Chairing a joint review meeting with representatives of the Dehu and Alandi Sansthans and the administration, the Collector assured that the demands raised by both institutions would be addressed positively and that concrete action would be taken by the administration.
Regarding the widening of the five-kilometre Dehu–Dehu Road, instructions were given to complete three kilometres under the Public Works Department jurisdiction and two kilometres within the limits of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. The district administration will follow up for obtaining the necessary no-objection certificate from the Dehu Road Cantonment Board. It was also announced that the 500-metre road stretch up to the Dehu temple will be completed under the Nagarothan (urban development) scheme.
As the first halt of the Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palakhi is at Akurdi, officials were instructed to conduct a joint inspection and arrange temporary space due to limited availability of land. Directions were also issued to complete the metro work between Kalbhor Nagar and Akurdi before the Palakhi procession. At Loni Kalbhor, the halt area will be expanded, while issues related to Palkhi halts at Gavalyachi Undwadi, Sansar, and Nimgav Ketki will be resolved by the administration.
For Alandi, the administration took a firm stand on completing pending works within fixed timelines. Instructions were issued to ensure uninterrupted night lighting from Sanchati to FC Road on the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi route. Obstacles on the newly constructed bypass road between Borawke Mala and Saswad will be removed, and barricades will be installed at required locations in Dive Ghat. To prevent traffic congestion, arrangements will be made to keep cranes with the Palakhi convoy in case of vehicle breakdowns on the route.
Collector Dudi also directed the immediate demolition of the old bridge at Nira. He instructed officials to expedite pending road works in Alandi, ensure availability of funds, and fast-track major road projects up to the PCMC limits. Road-widening works within the Alandi municipal area were also ordered to be completed at a faster pace.
Additionally, directions were issued to ensure the availability of ambulances during the return Wari, as required.
Office-bearers of the Dehu and Alandi Sansthans expressed satisfaction over the administration’s prompt meeting and positive response to their demands.
The meeting was attended by Resident Deputy Collector Jyoti Kadam, Zilla Parishad CEO Chandrakant Waghmare, District Planning Officer Kiran Indalkar, district health officials, National Highways Authority officials, concerned department officers from the Palakhi routes, Public Works Department engineers, chief officers of municipal councils, trustees of the Dehu and Alandi Sansthans, and other senior officials.
