Maharashtra, June 5, 2026: Maharashtra is set to witness a significant change in weather conditions on Saturday, June 6, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing yellow alerts for both heatwave and rainfall across several parts of the state. According to the IMD, Palghar, Thane, and Mumbai have been placed under a yellow alert for heatwave conditions. Residents in these districts have been advised to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during peak afternoon hours and stay hydrated.
At the same time, a yellow alert for rainfall has been issued for multiple districts, indicating the possibility of thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds, and moderate rainfall.
Rain Alert for Konkan Districts
In the Konkan region, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg are expected to receive rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm activity. Weather officials have warned of isolated heavy showers in some areas.
North Maharashtra Likely to Receive Showers
Nashik and Ahilyanagar districts have been placed under a yellow alert for rain. Light to moderate rainfall, along with thunder and lightning, is expected in several locations. Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, and Sangli have also been placed under a yellow alert. These districts may experience thunderstorms, gusty winds, and intermittent rainfall during the day. While Solapur has not been included in the alert list, weather officials have forecast light to moderate rain in parts of the district.
Marathwada to See Localised Rainfall
In Marathwada, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Beed are under a yellow alert for rain. Other districts, including Jalna, Parbhani, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, and Dharashiv, may also witness isolated showers despite the absence of an official alert.
Authorities have advised farmers to closely monitor weather forecasts before undertaking agricultural activities.
Vidarbha Faces Thunderstorms and Rain
A yellow alert has been issued for 11 districts in Vidarbha, including Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, Washim, and Yavatmal.
These districts are likely to experience thunderstorms, lightning, strong winds, and moderate rainfall. Some locations could witness intense rain spells over short periods.
Citizens Advised to Remain Vigilant
The IMD has urged residents to remain cautious amid the changing weather conditions. People have been advised to seek shelter during thunderstorms, avoid standing under trees during lightning activity, and follow official weather updates.
Meteorologists expect cloudy skies, intermittent rain, and gusty winds to continue across several parts of Maharashtra over the next few days, bringing relief from the recent heat in some regions while creating challenging weather conditions in others.
