The Chikhali – Moshi – Charholi Housing Society Federation has expressed their objection over governing body as it failed to install composting units in the societies. PCMC had demanded the housing societies to install a compost plant in 2019, and had also fined the societies which failed to meet the rules of setting up an in-house composting plant. Also as per the Solid Waste Management Rules 2016 each society must have a composting unit in its premises.
Chikhali – Moshi – Charholi federation of Housing societies has expressed their objection over the builder’s neglect in installing the composting plant in the societies. The residents alleged that PCMC has failed to verify the facts and issued clearance certificate without anyone of them having installed the plants.

While addressing the meeting, BJP MLA Mahesh Landge posed a question “As the PCMC had imposed a rule of installing in-house composting plant for the wet garbage, the society builders should have obeyed the rule. However, the PCMC body, too, gave the clearance letter to the society builders, then why are the society members suffering?”
He further demanded that “The work to install the compost plant in the societies must be started on immediate basis.”
The society federation head, Sanjeevan Sangale, while demanding an action against the all the society builders who have not installed the compost plant, as per the rule of PCMC, said, “Many society builders have failed to install the compost plant. Regarding the same, the governing body must take strict action against defaulters who have failed to keep up with the rules, for which we societies are suffering.”
Badrinarayan Kakade, chairman, Shiv Classic Housing society said, “To be honest, builders violated the rules of installing the compost plant in the society, but here, the corporation, too, must be held responsible for giving a clearance letter to the builders.”
Municipal commissioner of the city, Shravan Hardikar, said that “Within five days, all the respective builders of the societies would be sent notices. Also, an enquiry would be ordered against those authorities who have given the clearance letter to the builders, neglecting the installation of composting plant. In the coming eight days, the necessary action will be taken against the guilty.”
