Pune, March 7, 2026: The much-awaited integrated double-decker flyover at Pune University Chowk will be inaugurated on Sunday (March 8) at 10:00 am by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis through an online ceremony. The project is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion in key areas including University Road, Pashan, and Baner.
The flyover has been developed by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) as part of efforts to improve traffic flow at one of Pune’s busiest junctions.
Union Minister of State Murlidhar Mohol, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and Deputy Chief Minister and Pune District Guardian Minister Sunetra Pawar will attend the ceremony as chief guests.
Several other dignitaries will also be present, including Legislative Council Deputy Chairperson Neelam Gorhe, Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Anna Bansode, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, Agriculture Minister Dattatray Bharne, Minister of State Madhuri Misal, and Pune Mayor Manjusha Nagpure.
Members of Parliament such as Medha Kulkarni, Supriya Sule, Shrirang Appa Barne, and Amol Kolhe, along with several Members of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly from the district, are also expected to attend the event.
The integrated structure combines a metro corridor with a double-decker flyover, designed to reduce the heavy traffic load at the busy junction. Officials said the project will help reduce pressure on the signal system and significantly cut travel time for commuters passing through the area.
The inauguration ceremony will take place at Pune University Chowk on Sunday, March 8 at 10:00 am.
