Ahmedabad: With the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final between India national cricket team and New Zealand national cricket team, Ahmedabad has turned into a hub of cricket celebrations—and soaring prices. Thousands of cricket fans from across India and abroad are flocking to the city to witness the historic clash at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium, leading to a sharp spike in hotel and travel costs.

Hotel Prices Skyrocket by 400%

The sudden surge in visitors has triggered a massive increase in hotel tariffs across Ahmedabad. Rooms that were earlier available between ₹5,000 and ₹20,000 per night are now reportedly being priced between ₹15,000 and ₹50,000.

The city has approximately 10,000 hotel rooms, and hospitality experts estimate that more than 80% of them will be occupied on the day of the final.

Due to the steep prices, many fans are choosing to stay in nearby Gandhinagar and plan to travel to Ahmedabad on match day to watch the game.

Flight Fares Shoot Up

Air travel costs have also surged dramatically. A flight ticket from Mumbai to Ahmedabad, which typically costs around ₹3,000–₹4,000, is now reportedly priced between ₹15,000 and ₹17,000.

Similarly, fares from New Delhi and Bengaluru to Ahmedabad have risen to around ₹14,000 and ₹13,000 respectively, reflecting the massive demand ahead of the final. Travel and tourism stakeholders say the tournament has brought a major boost to the hospitality sector.

Special Train Announced

To manage the growing rush, Indian Railways has introduced a special train service between Delhi and Ahmedabad to help cricket fans reach the venue conveniently.

Despite the high travel and accommodation costs, thousands of supporters are heading to Ahmedabad just to cheer for Team India in the final.

Stadium Tickets and Black Market Buzz

Ticket prices for the match at Narendra Modi Stadium range from ₹3,000 to ₹75,000 on official platforms, with premium hospitality and club lounge seats costing between ₹50,000 and ₹75,000.

The stadium, which can accommodate around 130,000 spectators, is expected to be packed. However, reports suggest that some tickets are being resold in the black market for over ₹5 lakh, highlighting the extraordinary demand for the final.
