ICC T20 World Cup 2026 Prize Money: India vs New Zealand Final Earnings Explained
The ICC has announced a $13.5 million prize pool for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. Here’s how much India could earn if Suryakumar Yadav’s team defeats New Zealand in the final at Ahmedabad.

Ahmedabad: As India prepares to face New Zealand in the grand finale of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, the stakes are not limited to lifting the trophy. A massive financial reward also awaits the champion team at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a record prize pool of $13.5 million (approximately ₹120 crore) for the 2026 tournament, representing a 20 percent increase compared to the 2024 edition held in the USA and West Indies.

Winner and Runner-Up Prize

The team that wins the final will receive $3 million (around ₹27.48 crore) as prize money. The runners-up will also earn a substantial reward of $1.6 million (approximately ₹14.65 crore).

If India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, defeats the New Zealand national cricket team in the final, the team will claim the ICC prize money along with possible additional incentives from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Prize Money Distribution by Tournament Stage

The ICC has structured the prize distribution to ensure every participating team receives a share of the total pool.

Losing Semi-finalists: $790,000 each (Approx. ₹7.24 crore)
Super 8 Teams: $380,000 each (Approx. ₹3.48 crore)
Group Stage Participants: $250,000 each (Approx. ₹2.29 crore)

Significant Increase From 2024 Tournament

The financial rewards for the T20 World Cup have grown significantly. During the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, the total prize pool was $11.25 million.

In that tournament, India received $2.45 million (around ₹20.42 crore) after winning the title, while runners-up South Africa national cricket team earned $1.28 million.

Possible Additional BCCI Bonus

Apart from the official ICC prize money, the BCCI often rewards players and support staff with additional bonuses. After India’s 2024 title win, the board announced a ₹125 crore bonus for the entire contingent, including players, coaches, and support staff.

If India successfully defends its title in Ahmedabad, similar domestic rewards are widely expected.

A High-Stakes Final

With the world’s largest cricket stadium hosting the match, the final promises both sporting glory and substantial financial gains. Whether India secures a historic third T20 World Cup title or New Zealand claims its first ICC white-ball trophy, the winning team will walk away with a significant reward on cricket’s biggest stage.
