Weather Alert: Temperatures Soar Across Maharashtra; IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Several Districts on March 12
Hot and humid conditions are likely in Konkan, while Marathwada and Vidarbha may experience intense heat with temperatures touching 40°C.
Pune, March 11: A sharp rise in temperatures has been recorded across Maharashtra, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting continued hot and humid weather on Thursday, March 12. Several districts have been placed under a yellow alert for heat, particularly in the Konkan region.
According to the weather department, North Konkan, Marathwada and Vidarbha are expected to experience particularly hot conditions over the next 24 hours.
Konkan Region
Districts including Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Palghar are likely to witness hot and humid weather. Daytime temperatures in Mumbai are expected to range between 34°C and 38°C, while minimum temperatures may remain between 24°C and 27°C. The IMD has issued a yellow heat alert for Mumbai, Thane, Raigad and Palghar.
Western Maharashtra
Cities such as Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur and Solapur are expected to experience dry and hot conditions. In Pune, the maximum temperature is likely to remain between 35°C and 38°C, while the minimum temperature may range from 18°C to 21°C.
North Maharashtra
Districts including Nashik, Dhule, Jalgaon and Nandurbar are also expected to witness rising temperatures. In Nashik, daytime temperatures could reach 34°C to 37°C, with minimum temperatures hovering between 19°C and 22°C.
Marathwada Region
Districts such as Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed, Latur, Nanded, Parbhani and Dharashiv are likely to experience hot and dry weather conditions. Maximum temperatures in this region are expected to range between 35°C and 39°C, while minimum temperatures may remain between 20°C and 23°C.
Vidarbha Region
The Vidarbha region is expected to record the highest temperatures in the state. Cities including Nagpur, Amravati, Akola, Washim, Yavatmal, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli and Buldhana may experience temperatures between 36°C and 40°C, with minimum temperatures around 21°C to 24°C.
Advisory for Citizens
Authorities have advised residents to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, and watch for symptoms of heat-related illnesses. With the summer heat intensifying, citizens are urged to take necessary precautions to prevent dehydration and heatstroke.
