Pune, March 12, 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) mobile application “PMC Road Mitra,” launched with much fanfare to help make city roads pothole-free, has reportedly stopped functioning just six months after its launch.

The app was inaugurated on August 12, 2025, by PMC Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram as part of an initiative to allow citizens to directly report potholes on city roads. However, it has now emerged that the application is no longer operational.

What has raised further concern is that officials from both the Information Technology (IT) Department and the Road Department of the municipal corporation were reportedly unaware that the app had stopped working.

The administration had earlier claimed that if citizens uploaded photos or videos of potholes through the mobile app, the potholes would be repaired within 72 hours. With the app now shut down, this promise has effectively become non-functional.

The initiative was introduced after the civic administration faced continuous criticism over the poor condition of city roads and was also reprimanded by the state government over the pothole issue.

Under the system, citizens could upload images or videos of potholes directly through the app, and the complaint would be automatically forwarded to the PMC Road Department without any intermediary. Authorities had assured that the pothole would be repaired within 72 hours, with the Deputy Engineer of the concerned area held personally responsible for the repair work.

However, with the app no longer functioning, the citizen-centric initiative has effectively stalled.

Responding to the issue, PMC Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram said that after learning about the problem, instructions have been issued to the concerned departments to restore the app. He added that the application will soon be made operational again for citizens.
